Cellphone Lemon Law Could Reward You for Buying a Crappy

lemon.jpgIllinois is currently considering a "cellphone lemon law" that would allow anyone who's had their phone replaced or repaired three times to get out of their contract. This would be pretty awesome for consumers, who have no real recourse when their phone breaks multiple times. If the bill is passed, customers would be able to ditch their carriers with no early-cancellation fee or switch to a different phone without extending their contract. Obviously, the carriers don't want to see this happen as they loooove charging early-cancellation fees, but that just proves that this is a good idea. It looks like it might get passed in Illinois, which would hopefully pave the way for it to go nationwide. '€"Adam Frucci Chicago Tribune [via Broadband Reports]
