Macbook Would Commit Adultery With LED Cellphone [Concepts]

Tao Ma is at it again, cranking out another great phone concept. The new design, the LED Cellphone, incorporates hundreds of LEDs, all of which are used to create the cellphone's striking UI. Check out the gallery below to see a cellphone your plastic white MacBook would fall head over heels for. Depending on the function that is required, certain LEDs will illuminate, whilst others are switched off. This only gives rise to basic patterns, so you would not be sending any MMS messages using this phone, but the styling certainly earns it plus points. The device would be powered by two AAA batteries, which could be recharged by the chic USB dock. The LED Cellphone reminds us of O2's Cocoon, and as that has already made it to the production line, we know this concept would not pose too many obstacles to a manufacturer. We can hear our slut Macbook making adulterous noises right now'€"it would trade its iPhone partner for a pretty bimbo without a second thought. Macbook, you should be ashamed. [Gizmo Watch]

Kensington Intros LiquidAUX Range of In-Car Peripherals [Kensington]

Kensington just dumped a whole host of in-car peripherals. Here's the lot: '€ Kensington LiquidAUX for iPhone and iPod ($79.99.) Allows for "superior" sound quality via the auxiliary port, whilst simultaneously charging. Comes with a remote, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. '€ Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod ($99.99.) As above, but with cradle and adjustable flexible arm. '€ Kensington LiquidAUX Bluetooth Car Kit ($99.99.) Does the same as the above two kits, however, this will allow you to hook up your Bluetooth (A2DP) enabled cellphone instead. Automated music muting and call taking functionality included, as would be expected. '€ Kensington Car Charger Deluxe for iPhone and iPod ($49.99.) Cradle that includes adjustable arm, but without the music via auxiliary output. Basically a glorified charger/cradle. Pricey. '€ Kensington Bluetooth Stereo Headphones with Microphone ($79.99.) As the name suggests, these will be your stock Bluetooth headphones, compatible with A2DP, but also incorporating a microphone. Can be used as a standard Skype headset. For the entire press release, check below: The LiquidAUX Collection from Kensington Includes: Kensington LiquidAUX for iPhone and iPod (K33429US): Get superior sound quality from a simple auxiliary port connection and charge your iPhone or iPod at the same time. The wireless remote ensures that your hands never have to leave the steering wheel. A smart audio sensor turns off the device to conserve car battery power. Designed for vehicles with auxiliary ports in the center console. Suggested retail price: $79.99. Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod (K33430US): Control your music with the wireless remote and give your iPhone or iPod a home in the car with our adjustable cradle. A flexible arm allows you to maneuver it to your hearts desire while an auxiliary port connection ensures pure sound quality from your iPod. Designed specifically for vehicles with in-dash auxiliary ports. Suggested retail price: $99.99. Kensington LiquidAUX Bluetooth Car Kit (K33428US): Enjoy hands-free calling and crystal- clear music from your music phone through your car's stereo. Bluetooth 2.0 technology with enhanced data rate, a built-in microphone with noise and echo-canceling technology makes for clear conversations on the road. Simply press the phone icon on the remote to automatically mute your music and take a call over your car's stereo. Or, use your phone's supported voice activation to make calls without ever accessing it directly. A USB charging port ensures that your phone stays charged. This is the ideal alternative to installing Bluetooth in your car. Suggested retail price: $99.99. A2DP protocol required for wireless music streaming Kensington Car Charger Deluxe for iPhone and iPod (K33433US): The adjustable dock adapts to securely fit an iPod or iPhone with or without a case, while a flexible arm adjusts to ensure the optimal position. Put your iPhone in speaker mode and now you've got a hands-free cradle. Charges iPod models with dock connector and iPhone. Suggested retail price: $49.99 Exluding 3rd Generation iPod Kensington Bluetooth Stereo Headphones with Microphone (K33436US): A comfortable behind- the-head design offers a stylish way to listen to music or conversations, while Bluetooth technology provides the freedom of wireless compatibility with music phones or notebooks. Easy-to-access buttons on the headphones control audio playback and volume while also allowing users to answer calls with the push of a button. Skype compatible. Suggested retail price: $79.99. Product Availability The new Kensington Play it line is available for pre-order at Amazon.com and Kensington.com and will be available at other major retailers in March 2008.

New iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 Shows Faux GPS and Other Cool Stuff

Gearlive is showing off some convincing screenshots of the new iPhone firmware 1.1.3. Arn over at Macrumors thinks they seem like functions Apple would do, even if the features don't line up with previous rumors: * The ability to send an SMS message to multiple people is now there * Google Maps application can now pinpoint your location using cell tower triangulation * Google Maps can now display the Hybrid map view * You can now drag and drop application icons on your home screen * The home screen supports pagination * You can now add web bookmarks to your home screen The proof is in the screenshots, which there are a few of below, but many more at Gearlive for you to investigate (As long as their site holds up).
AT&T's Top Ten Ringtones of the Year

And the award goes to...major corporations who are making a killing on ringtones. AT&T compiled a list of their top selling ringtones of the year, and while comfortably hiding their massive erections behind the podium, announced them to the world: 1. Shop Boyz - "Party Like a Rockstar" 2. Mims - "This Is Why I'm Hot" 3. Soulja Boy - "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" 4. Nickelback - "Rockstar" 5. Akon - "Don't Matter" 6. T-Pain - "Buy You A Drank (Shawty Snappin)" 7. Hurricane Chris - "A Bay Bay" 8. Sean Kingston - "Beautiful Girls" 9. Huey - "Pop, Lock & Drop It" 10. Fergie - "Big Girls Don't Cry" I can't wait until nobody gives a crap about these people anymore. Fergie, ten years from now on VH1 eating bon bons on her couch: "In 2007 I had the 10th best selling ringtone in AT&T, a lot of people forget that." [mobilemag]

Our busybody brother Consumerist is reporting that T-Mobile's customer service is totally down and out for the time being thanks to some wrath-of-god flooding in the Pacific Northwest. Their soggy computers can't pull up customer info, apparently. It's been down since last night, though no word on when it'll be back up. [Consumerist, Image via Seattle Times]

Anyone who's watched the latest series of iPhone ads knows that the people simply appear on screen and speak with no prompting. But just what were all these fine folks really being asked, anyway? We've taken the liberty to fill in the gaps, so hit the jump for the exclusive, re-cut and uncensored versions of Apple's newest iPhone spots'€"and see what happens when Apple stops being polite, and starts getting real.
USA Today's Eleventh Hour Google Phone Facts/Speculation/Hype [Yay

<img src="http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/4/2007/08/google-phone-1.jpg" alt="google-phone-1.jpg""/>USA Today mostly rehashes what we've heard about Google's plans, but they add a few unique contributions to the growing rumor pile. First, they peg Google's partners as "includ[ing] Sprint, Motorola, Samsung and Japanese wireless giant NTT DoCoMo"'€"WSJ is betting Sprint, T-Mobile, and HTC, with Samsung and other hardware companies as possibilities. (Reuters also says Samsung.) Also, while the Linux-based OS is nothing new, the tip that it'll be overlaid with Java is. Final worthwhile bits: Spring is the worldwide ship date, and a weird mention that the "Google Phone...could blow open this model by providing easy access to the Internet at PC-type speeds." Juicy, pertinent info or random hypothetical? We'll know soon. [USA Today]

UK's 3 SkypePhone Gets Camera, Media Functions

The Skype Phone on UK's 3 cellular provider just got leaked, and UK Phone News claims they have a picture of the device but can't show it'€"but they can tell us details. The Skype phone will have a 2-megapixel camera with photo editing and effects, video capture and an MP3 player with various media functions. The important point is still that a cellular provider is subsidizing/allowing a Skype phone to be used on their network. We're not sure how the pricing is going to work out, but we're certain that the calls won't be free and that they'll eat up your minutes. Your best bet is to get a powerful enough Windows Mobile phone with Wi-Fi and install Skype on that. [UKPhoneNews]
