Nokia's Secret Search Engine Will Track Your Media

Nokia%20Search.jpg Now that Nokia has finished announcing their high-end phones, they're working on a mobile search engine to help you keep track of files stored on your mobile. The blueprints for the search engine are exposed by a patent that also leaks info on how the search engine will be capable of tracking media files, like audio, video and images. Could this be a hint as to the kind of storage bump future N-Series phones will pack? Let's hope so. '€" Louis Ramirez Patent [via Unwired View]

More Sidekick ID Leaks: Colors and

sidekick-id-colors-1.jpgT-Mobile and others are having a hell of a time keeping their traps shut about the Sidekick ID. A rebate form was found on the T-Mobile website that had some more information about this new, nerfed Sidekick. First and foremost, it will be available in a variety of colors (obviously from the picture). It will also have a $50 mail-in-rebate (making the final price $100) and an April 18ish release date. You know, this Sidekick ID isn't looking too bad. '€"Travis Hudson Sidekick ID: Fuglier than we thought [CG]

Helio Ocean Video

Craving some more one-on-one time with Helio's new dual slider? The guys at PhoneScoop got an in-depth video of Helio's Ocean including a look at the phone's features and interface. The new Web browser (which lets you view full Web pages) looks especially cool. Combine that with their all you can eat EV-DO/text messaging plan and the Ocean looks like a nice option for the Net-addicted. '€" Louis Ramirez Helio Ocean Preview [TecheBlog]

The $20 Disposable Fuel Cell for

IMG_8036WM.JPGHello, Brian here. More CTIA gems, back in the far left back corner of the show. Next to the hotdog stand. Yes. Here's 24/7, what Medis is claiming is the first disposable gadget fuel cell. It'll recharge a phone like a Treo with up to 20 hours of talk time. And it comes with a handful of popular connectors. I'd call it portable, but in a fanny or backpack. It's basically not pocketable unless you dress like Vanilla Ice. But how else you gonna charge your cellphones and gadgets far from AC/DC? Well, other than these Backupower phones. Medis: How about a laptop setup? How about a version like this that is reusable? Make 'em, and you shall be adored by gadget geeks everywhere.'€"Brian Lam 24/7 Fuel Cell [Gizmodo]

Dvorak Isn't Drinking the iPhone Kool-Aid, Thinks Apple Should Can the

dvoraksmart.pngCheers, John C. Dvorak. I will clank my anti-iPhone Kool-Aid with you. In Dvorak's latest MarketWatch column he boldly goes where very few technology journalists go. He declares war on the iPhone and suggests that Apple should pull the plug on the gadget before it is too late. The Cranky Geek makes a good point that Apple's past successes have been in emerging markets. He goes on to say that to use the patented Apple flashy design and jazzy advertising in an extremely robust cellphone market may not work so well and will end up hurting Apple's reputation. If you recall, Apple hasn't had a true flop for quite some time and the iPhone may be just what the doctor ordered. Dvorak still shows love for Apple, though. He would rather see the iPhone as a "reference design" created by Apple and dumped onto another sucker willing to tackle it, like Samsung, he suggests. Good luck, Apple. Dvorak and I think you will need it. Now pardon me while I go skipping down the street, hand-in-hand, with my eternal lover, John C. Hudson Dvorak. Rumor: Apple iPhone Out on June 11th

CNet grows huge, hairy balls, and makes a bold claim that the iPhone is coming out on June 11th. The source? A random Cingular sales agent they'd reached on the phone. Please hold, while I connect you to my...disbelief. Haven't you guys learned anything? June 11th is a Monday, and Apple maniacs know that The Company only releases stuff on Tuesday. Even if Cingular is doing the distribution, it makes as much sense as any that the phone will be released according to Cult Tradition. Which doesn't change until Steve Jobs says it changes. The better bet is the Tuesday of WWDC, which is the 12th.'€"Brian Lam iPhone on June 11th [CNet]
