Motorola RAZR MAXX Ve in the

DSC00328.jpgBoy Genius, the man boy who manages to pull some special strings to get his grubby hands on the latest and greatest phones, now has the Motorola RAZR MAXX Ve that we heard about yesterday. Sportin' a much larger external display than it's GSM cousin, the Verizon unit looks dramatically better. Some other changes are a 2 mega-pixel Auto Focus camera, and keypad layout. Everything seemed to be pretty fast, for a Verizon UI. The camera worked very well auto-focusing shots before taking the final click, and MP3 controls on the outer screen were responsive. I hate to say it, but that is one sexy looking RAZR variant. '€"Travis Hudson Hands On: Verizon Motorola MAXX Ve [BGR]

Philips Xenium 9@9 Cellphones Let You Talk Forever and a

philips-xenium-99a-99d-99t-mobile-phones-cellphones.jpgHere's a characteristic for a cellphone other then just loading on more and more features: these suckers have extremely long battery life. The Philips Xenium 9@9a (pictured at left) is bereft of any extra bells and whistles but can hang on in standby for 40 days and 40 nights on a single charge, and even the most talkative jabberjaws in the world can go on gabbing all day, 10 hours without having to recharge the thing. Other than that advanced energy efficiency, the line of 9@9 phones are fairly ordinary. The Xenium 9@9d (pictured in the middle) adds a 1.3-megapixel camera to the mix, while the 9@9t is a smartphone with handwriting recognition, an MP3 player and a miniSD memory expansion slot. You gotta love that long, long battery life. Welcome back to cellphoneage, Philips! '€" Charlie White Philips Xenium 9@9 phone line [Unwired View]

Radar: Cellphone App For The Always

radarnet.jpgIf you're one of those people that always need to tell people exactly what they're doing, then Radar.net is just the thing for you. Essentially a social group made up of people you invite, Radar lets you email or MMS pictures to it which gets spread to everyone else in your network. So if you want to keep up with your friends and family from the office or on the go (you can view pictures on cellphones too) then give Radar a shot. It's of limited usage right now, but could be cool if you have a specific need for it. '€" Jason Chen Product Page [Radar]

Motorola RAZR maxx Ve Marketing Materials Leaked, Still No Release

razrmaxxve.jpgAccording to this leaked marketing image, we can still expect the Motorola MAXX to come out on Verizon Wireless. (We originally pegged the Motorola RAZR MAXX to come out on Verizon Wireless last fall, but fall has come and gone and there's still no MAXX in sight. What gives?) Verizon has christened the cellphone the maxx Ve and you can still anticipate using a 2-megapixel camera and surfing the mobile Internet with EV-DO. Alas, there's still no official (or unofficial) release date in sight. One piece of bad news: don't even think about tapping into Verizon's V Cast TV with the maxx since the two don't appear to be play well together. Meizu M8 PMP/Phone Looks Awfully

meizu_m8_3a.jpgDapreview has'€"what appears to be'€"concept renderings of the M8 PMP/cellphone from Meizu. No word if these are real or not, but something about it looks really familiar. I can't put my finger on it, but this player looks like something we have been covering non-stop for the past month or so. This is going to drive me crazy if I can't remember which fruity product the M8 looks like. I think it starts with eye-something. EyeJack? EyeZune? This player runs WinCE 6.0, includes a 3-megapixel camera, 3.3-inch VGA+ screen, GSM support, TV-out and more. I don't know whether to think this is fake, or a real knock-off. This isn't the first time Meizu has borrowed design elements from another company. '€"Travis Hudson Meizu M8, the Chinese iPhone [dapreview]

i-Mate KJAR Windows Mobile Smartphone Coming to AT&T or

kjarsmall.jpgThe i-Mate brand hasn't really had any presence in the US, leaving fans of Windows Mobile smartphones to turn to HTC for all their mobile computing needs. However, as this FCC filing shows, the i-Mate KJAR is going to make its GSM-presence known some time soon. The KJAR itself looks similar to the Cingular 8525, except this flips and flops instead of sliding. The KJAR has a TI OMAP750 CPU, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, 2-megapixel camera, miniSD expansion, 802.11b, and Bluetooth 1.2. Since it loses out in the features department to the 8525'€"no 3G, no 802.11g, and no Bluetooth 2.0'€"looking forward to this would be like looking forward to cake when you already had ice cream. Shanghai Tests Out 4G Network with Plans for HD-capable

mobile%20phone%204g.jpg Just as more and more 3G enabled mobiles have been making their way to States, out comes Shanghai with their big, bad 4G network. According to the China Daily, Shanghai ran the world's first 4G trial yesterday. So what does 4G tech bring to the table? Well, aside from faster speeds and better data services, it has the potential... to bring high definition broadcasting to your mobile. So instead of getting rear ended on the highway for talking on the phone, you'll get rear ended by someone who was watching HDTV on their phone. The trial cost Shanghai around $19 million US and Samsung has already said it could deliver 4G mobiles by the year 2010. '€" Louis Ramirez Shanghai Stages 4G Telephony Rollout [Yahoo]
